FOOD TESTING

What You Eat May Be Making You Sick!

Proactive Wellness Food TestingThis test identifies reactions to over 300 foods, chemicals and other substances associated with inflammation that are linked to chronic health problems like migraines, aching joints, fatigue, gastrointestinal disorders, eczema, hyperactivity/ADD, asthma and even obesity.

Our goal is to provide our patients with accurate, timely and dependable test results and nutritional support services.  We are more than happy to advise you in choosing the appropriate test panel as well as assist you with any other questions before or after taking the test.

We have had numerous patients take this test and the results have been nothing short of remarkable.

Many of the foods that are available in restaurants and grocery stores are highly processed and contain significant amounts of sugars, pesticides, herbicides and other chemicals that are foreign to the human body. While we do not believe in “diets”, Proactive Wellness Center believe that a foundation to any plan to optimize health has to include eating “whole”, healthy foods in the proper amounts and appropriately balanced.

Further, many individuals have food sensitivities. Through food sensitivity testing, we can identify the “safe” foods and the foods that a person is sensitive to or intolerant to. Proactive Wellness Center help individuals eliminate the foods that they are sensitive or intolerant to. Identifying and correcting food allergies increases the success of almost every treatment modality. Chronic symptoms can disappear, significant weigh loss may occur, and many other improvements have been reported in our office.

What is food sensitivity?

When the lining of the gut is inflamed, small fissures open between the tightly woven cells making up the gut walls. Known as leaky gut syndrome, these chinks in the gut’s armor allow bacteria and partially digested food molecules to slip out into the bloodstream where they are considered foreign invaders.

Once it spies a potential enemy, the body doesn’t hold back. The immune system attacks full throttle. White blood cells rush to surround the offending particle and systemic inflammation ensues. I’m not talking about a sore throat or infected finger. I’m talking about a hidden, smoldering fire created by the immune system as it tries to fend off a daily onslaught of food allergies. The problem is that most people eat foods they are allergic to several times a day. Meaning every time that food enters the body, the immune system whips itself into a frenzy. But because symptoms are delayed up to 72 hours after eating, a low-grade food allergy can be hard to spot.

Without diagnosis or awareness, the damage is repeated over and over, meal after meal. Eventually, inflammation seeps throughout the body, establishing an environment ripe for weight gain and chronic disease. Identifying and treating food allergies and food sensitivities is an important part of our practice. After accurate food intolerance testing and a corrective diet many patients lose notches on their belt, feel relief from arthritis symptoms have asthma symptoms improve, and most of all gain energy while decreasing hunger. These results are not unusual. We have seen dramatic effects in weight loss, inflammatory conditions like autoimmune disease, and even mood and behavioral disorders.

How does food sensitivity differ from classic food allergies?

True food allergies refer to foods that trigger the immune system to acutely produce massive amounts of the chemical histamine that leads to anaphylaxis. This potentially fatal condition causes the throat and esophagus to swell, cutting off air from the lungs, or may simply cause hives, skin rashes, and other non-life-threatening reactions. This type of reaction is called a Type I hypersensitivity reaction, caused by the degranulation of mast cells or basophils that is mediated by Immunoglobulin E (IgE).
